The tour of the Val d'Aran

Air, fire, earth and water are the elements that you will encounter as you run through the Val d'Aran. One hundred and sixty-three kilometres with 10,000 metres of positive vertical drop is what awaits you in this spectacular race that is only suitable for the brave.

Starting at 16:00 hours from Vielha, in the first kilometres you will crown two peaks of more than 2,000 metres and you will have the sensation of flying over Vielha and the whole valley.

Fire is one of the most important elements of Aranese culture and Les, a town with deep-rooted traditions. Crossing the village, you will be able to appreciate Eth Haro, a 10 m high fir tree that is burnt every summer solstice. From Les, you will enter the Val de Toran, probably the wildest valley in the Aranese mountains, where you will pass through old and typical villages, such as Canejan or Sant Joan de Toran.

The first light of dawn will take you to the important mining past of the Val d'Aran. A long climb from Sant Joan de Toran will lead you to the majestic mines of Liat. You will cross old mining tunnels, you will pass the abandoned iron mines of Urets, with panoramic views over the lake of Montoliu and the main chain of the Pyrenees: Aneto and Maladetas, Montarto, Montlude....

In the VDA you will pass through some of the most beautiful villages in Spain, such as Bagergue, declared one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and Salardú, capital of Naut Aran. You will enter the lake cirque of Colomèrs, with its more than 50 lakes, the largest glacial lake cirque in the Pyrenees. You will cross the beautiful village of Arties, and reach some of the most imposing peaks of the Val d'Aran until you reach Vielha. One hundred and sixty-three kilometres where you will have crossed the whole valley and discovered much of its beauty.
