EQUAL RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
UTMB strongly believes in equal rights and opportunities for all members of the trail-running community. We are in the process of building inclusion and diversity policies on gender, race, age, social class and more. We endeavour to grow and continue to evolve the sport and to make UTMB World Series welcoming for each athlete.
For more women in trail running
At HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB®, we aim to promote women’s participation in trail running races.
Trail running has experienced significant growth in recent years, attracting a diverse community of runners. However, one persistent challenge is the underrepresentation of women in this field.
Encouraging women to participate in trail running races not only advances gender equality in sports but also enhances the overall experience of the discipline by fostering values of inclusion, resilience, and collaboration.
In this context, it is essential to drive initiatives that break social and cultural barriers, create safe and supportive spaces, and provide role models who inspire more women to join this exciting activity.
In our first edition, women accounted for 12.5% of the participants at the starting line of the various races. In 2024, this figure has risen to 18.78%, and the dropout rate remains proportionally lower compared to that of men.
Woman in Trail is a project that brings together various initiatives, born with a clear purpose: to encourage women to be part of this experience. We know they are more than capable of crossing the finish lines of any distance.
UTMB WORLD SERIES PREGNANCY POLICY
In the ongoing effort of UTMB to increase and encourage women participation in trail running, UTMB has implemented a new pregnancy policy across all UTMB World Series races.
Who is eligible for the policy?
- Athletes that are pregnant
- Athletes with a partner that is pregnant
- Athletes that are adopting or birthing via surrogacy
WOMAN KIT
Women of HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB® will find a Woman Kit at all the aid stations, as well as at the finish line. In it, they will have essential products for their personal hygiene, such as sanitary pads, tampons, intimate wipes, or hydroalcoholic gel.
Woman Kit is an initiative within UTMB® for the Planet, the sustainability strategy developed by the UTMB® Group, a promise to our stakeholders, our participants, and our communities that we strive to make a difference.

HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB collaborates with Transvia Sport and Corro y Soy Mujer
In 2022, we began collaborating with Corre y Soy Mujer and Transvia Sport to enable a group of female runners to participate in the races of HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB®. Three years later, the number of participants in this experience has doubled.
"Bringing the mountains closer to female runners, spending a weekend building community, discovering new places, enjoying the local cuisine... Disconnecting. Lacing up your shoes tightly and living the moment. This is the goal that three years ago sparked the synergy between Corro y Soy Mujer, Transvia Sport, and HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB®. And it’s more vibrant than ever.
A travel package including a race bib, excursions, yoga class, and time to explore Viella. Three projects, one shared purpose. For Corro y Soy Mujer, it's about building community, connecting beyond the digital, strengthening the identity of female runners, and supporting one another. For Transvia Sport: turning a weekend into a unique, hedonistic experience. And for HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB®, bringing trail running closer to women.”
