Security

Trail running is an exciting sport practiced in natural environments, offering a unique experience in contact with nature. To fully enjoy it, it's essential to consider certain safety aspects that contribute to the well-being of runners, volunteers, and organizers.

The Race Control Center (CECOR), together with healthcare services, mountain volunteers, and in collaboration with Pompièrs d’Aran and Mòssos d’Esquadra, will ensure the safety of all participants. More than 100 professionals distributed throughout the Val d’Aran will work to ensure that each race proceeds without incidents.

Keep in mind that unpredictable situations of all kinds can occur, related to both the environment and the race, which may require you to wait longer than expected for help. Even the best runner is not immune to an injury that could immobilize them at night, in the cold, from heatstroke, or rain in the middle of the mountains. Safety will then depend on the quality of the equipment carried in your backpack.

Some safety tips::

1. Proper Training

Participants must be physically prepared to handle the elevation gain, distance, and terrain conditions

2. Knowledge of the route

It is important to study the route, its profile, elevation changes, and know the locations of aid stations, evacuation points, and areas of greater difficulty.

3. Mandatory equipment: The importance of carrying mandatory equipment

Mandatory equipment is not a whim; it is a fundamental measure to ensure the safety of all participants. It not only complies with the regulations but also helps you handle unexpected situations such as sudden weather changes, fatigue, or emergencies. Each item has been carefully selected to protect you and ensure that you can continue in demanding conditions. Carrying this gear is not just a rule it’s a guarantee of well-being for you and others who might need assistance along the route. Failure to carry the mandatory equipment may result in disqualification, as it is considered essential for race safety.

4. Weather: Anticipate Changes

The weather in the Val d'Aran is unpredictable, and conditions can change suddenly within minutes. From extreme heat to sudden storms, runners must be prepared for any eventuality and adjust their equipment in case of cold, extreme heat, or heavy rain.

5. Mandatory LIVE TRAIL App: Essential for Your Safety

A smartphone is mandatory, with international roaming activated during the race, fully charged, and operational. Never switch your phone to airplane mode, as we need to be able to contact you before, during, and after the race.

All runners must ensure that the LIVE TRAIL app is installed and working, as it allows real-time tracking and communication with the organization. Additionally, it is essential to:

• Ensure that your personal information on the registration platform is accurate.

• Keep your phone on throughout the entire race.

• Enable SMS reception to receive possible alerts from the organization.

In case of an emergency, the organization may send messages via this system, so it is crucial to stay alert for any notifications.

TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION IN CASE OF EMERGENCY

Control Center => Runner

The Control Center can send you alert messages, relevant race information, and real-time updates. In an emergency, you will receive specific instructions to ensure your safety, such as course changes, adverse weather conditions, or any other situation that requires your immediate attention. Keep the LIVE TRAIL app notifications enabled to stay informed and react quickly to any alerts.

Runner => Control Center

EIn case of an SOS, the app allows you to alert the organization of an emergency and send your GPS location directly via SMS. This reduces response time. Important! This does not replace calling the Race Control Center.
