Discover the Val d'Aran
The Val d'Aran, known as "The Essence of the Pyrenees", is an Atlantic-facing valley in the central Pyrenees, where the Garonne River rises. It covers an area of 620 km and 30% of its territory is above 2,000 m in altitude, with peaks reaching 3,000 m, characteristics that make it a favourite place for nature lovers. Bordering France, it has a unique climate, perpetual snow, exquisite gastronomy, an own language and a strong cultural heritage. More than 95% of the Valley's territory is pure nature, a large part of which is found in the National Park of "Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici".
The Val d'Aran not only offers endless sporting possibilities. It also has a cultural offer that highlights a territory full of history, beauty and beautiful secrets still hidden in its villages, some of which shine with their own light during the festival of San Juan, a night full of illusion and magic where young and old people enjoy jumping the traditional #EthTaro.
The Val d'Aran is a destination known especially in winter for the ski resort of Baqueira Beret, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula, with 170 kilometres of skiable terrain. Whether you ski and combine your favorite hobby with the best après ski in the Pyrenees, or simply looking for a destination to live the winter in front of a good fireplace, everything you are looking for can be found on this side of the Pyrenees.
