Contribution to Reducing the Carbon Footprint
At HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB®, we are committed to sustainability and to reducing our carbon footprint. That’s why, back in 2023, we designed a collective mobility plan to make transportation across the Val d’Aran easier and more sustainable.
Thanks to this collective transport plan, in 2024 we significantly reduced the event’s carbon footprint:
🚍 18 buses in operation
🚗 Up to 2,400 fewer cars on the roads
👥 8,800 people transported (runners and companions)
♻️ 4.90 tonnes of CO₂e emissions avoided
In 2026, we will strengthen these measures even further, reducing the use of private cars and promoting collective transport.
Your trip can also leave a positive footprint
This edition we’ve added a new feature to the registration platform: the option to voluntarily calculate and help offset the carbon footprint of your trip to Vielha. You choose:
Calculate the CO₂ emissions of your round trip.
Decide if you’d like to voluntarily contribute to projects that absorb or avoid the same amount of CO₂.
Add the contribution to your registration with a single click.
How does the carbon contribution work?
Your contribution finances certified projects, validated by Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), ensuring that 100% of the funds go to high-impact initiatives.
• Some projects will have a local impact in the regions hosting HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB®.
• All comply with the most demanding international certifications.
• The cost is calculated according to your means of transport, distance, and is set at €25 per tonne of CO₂e.
Approximate round-trip examples:
• Spain: between <€1 and €10
• France, Italy, England: up to €20
• America: between €45 and €85
• Asia and Oceania: between €65 and €130
