No, we do not ask for a medical certificate.
Yes, you can have it yourself or purchase the one offered by the organisation, but it must comply with the requirements of the Registration Conditions appendix:
Each competitor must, obligatorily, be in possession of a personal accident insurance that covers the cost of search and rescue and evacuation in the mountains of Spain and France, up to 3.000 m altitude. It must also cover hospitalization expenses . The insurance must cover the practice of trail running and participation in long distance races in the mountains. The insurance can be subscribed from any organization, federation, or insurance company, at the participant's choice, as long as it complies WITH THE REQUIREMENTS INDICATED. Verify with your insurance company or federation that your insurance meets the requirements. EACH RUNNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING APPROPRIATE INSURANCE COVERAGE. THE ORGANIZATION’S VERIFICATION IS LIMITED TO CONFIRMING THE EXISTENCE AND VALIDITY OF SUCH INSURANCE. FAILURE TO MEET THE REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN THE RUNNER BEING SOLELY LIABLE FOR ANY MEDICAL OR RESCUE COSTS. Nonetheless, the organization provides runners without sufficient insurance, or those seeking to extend their coverage, the opportunity to obtain insurance at the time of registration. Such coverage is strongly recommended.
Medical evacuations with helicopter and hospitalization may be chargeable. The choice of evacuation method depends exclusively on the organization, which will systematically put the runner's security first. The choice of the method of evacuation and the actual choice of hospital is at the discretion of the search and rescue and medical officials. Expenses arising from the use of exceptional methods of rescue or evacuation have to be paid by the person rescued who will also have to pay their return from the place where they were evacuated. It falls to the runner to create their file and present it to their insurance company within the stated time limit.
The organization will take out Civil Liability insurance for each runner (already included in the registration fee), in accordance with the regulations of the competent authority.
It is possible to switch to a shorter-distance race (provided there are available spots in the new distance) up to 40 days before the race (May 20). No refund will be given for the difference in registration fees.
It is also possible to request a change to a longer-distance race if spots are available. This change is not automatic and will be decided by the race organization. In such cases, the runner must pay the price difference. The final price will be the rate in effect at the time the organization approves the change.
