With the aim of providing fair recognition to high-level athletes and ensuring equitable management of entry requests, we reserve slots for elite athletes based on their UTMB® Index in the category of the selected race. This measure seeks to guarantee equal opportunities, recognize athletic performance, and facilitate access for those competing at the highest level, while maintaining a transparent and balanced registration process. In addition, this initiative is part of our commitment to supporting the professionalization of trail running, helping elite athletes plan their season with greater certainty and compete under the best conditions within the circuit.
Elite runners must register before May 30, 2026. Registrations will not be accepted after the deadline. If a race has sold out, the organization reserves the right to accept or decline an elite runner’s registration.
Free elite bibs are only available for distances that directly qualify for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc Finals, namely VDA, CDH, and PDA. Bibs for other distances are available by express request and at the discretion of the Race Direction.
Runners wishing to benefit from a direct and free bib (subject to availability) must hold, at the time of registration, a UTMB® Index corresponding to the race category as follows:
WOMEN
| RACE CATEGORY | 50K | 100K | 100M |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum Index | 730 | 715 | 680 |
MEN
| RACE CATEGORY | 50K | 100K | 100M |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum Index | 870 | 850 | 825 |
Runners who meet the criteria may benefit from the above registration conditions. If places are available, they may register directly on the platform, which will recognize their elite status. If the race is sold out, they must request registration via email atl valdaran@service.utmb.world.
Conditions
When elite runners are granted free access, they commit to:
- Attending any press conference or official ceremony to which they are invited
- Being present at prize-giving ceremonies when applicable
- Agreeing to wear a GPS tracker provided by the organization throughout the race and return it at the finish
- Being present at the starting line at least 20 minutes before the start of the event
If athletes are ultimately unable to participate in the event, they must inform the organization in advance so their slot can be released and allocated to other elite runners. Failure to notify the organization of non-participation may result in future registration restrictions for UTMB® World Series events.
