Official Statement
Last night, Friday 7 July, the Val d'Aran by UTMB®️ security team, made up of the Mossos d'Esquadra, Pompièrs d'Aran, doctors and race management, decided to suspend two of its races, the 163 km VDA and the 110 km CDH, due to adverse weather conditions. A thunderstorm, hail, strong gusts of wind, and low temperatures endangered the safety of participants, volunteers and organisation.
Thanks to the involvement and collaboration of the institutions, Mossos d'Esquadra, Pompièrs d'Aran, neighbours and participants, no serious accidents were reported. The evacuation was carried out as quickly as possible, given the weather and terrain conditions. Thanks to the collaboration of the volunteers and the runners themselves, who remained calm at all times, the evacuation could be carried out in an agile and orderly manner.
On Saturday 8 July, the Trail Festival Baqueira Beret will take place as scheduled, with the SKY, the 15-kilometre race, and the EXP, the 32-kilometre race, on Sunday. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The unforeseen conditions yesterday afternoon necessitated such a difficult decision. However, we believe it was the best decision given the number of runners in the race at the time. The organisation's priority has always been the safety of the participants.
