Jan Torrella and Núria Tarragó conquer the SKY of HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB®
After the suspension on Friday night of the VDA, the main distance of the HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB® due to very adverse weather conditions, the SKY Promises, the race for young trail runners aged between 16 and 21, started on Saturday at 9:30 am in Pla de Beret.
Guillaume Lherisson was the fastest to complete the alternative route activated due to the weather, which increased the distance by 3 kilometres from 15 to 18, but reduced the height difference from 800 to 456 metres. The Frenchman stopped the clock in a time of 1:18:30. He was followed by Spaniard Adrian Vos Pérez in second place, with a time of 1:19:31, and Adrià López Vilajosana, who completed the podium in 1:20:25.
In the women's category the fastest was Judith Soriano Sánchez, with a time of 1:42:13, followed by Nadine Calahorra, who crossed the finish line in 1:50:41, while Olivia López was third, with a time of 2:00:09.
This year, the SKY Promesas, for 16 to 21 year olds, has increased the number of registered runners by 44% compared to the previous edition.
Half an hour later, at 10:00 a.m., the SKY Master started, with the same alternative route. The first place went to the Catalan Jan Torrella, who flew to the finish line completing the 18 kilometres in a time of 1:11:57. One second behind him was Jan Margarit, with a time of 1:12:44. The podium was closed by Gontzal Murgoitio, in 1:13:08.
Núria Tarragó was the fastest woman to cross the finish arch with a time of 1:26:26. María Fuentes was second, with a time of 1:28:58, and Sheila Avilés third, stopping the clock at 1:32:07.
The morning also saw the Trail Festival Baqueira Beret, the outdoor festival dedicated to families and companions, organised by the Baqueira Beret ski resort, which attracted a large number of participants.
Around 70 children aged between 8 and 16 took part in the Corsa des Sanglièrs, a 5-kilometre race, not timed and without classification, while more than 300 champions aged between 4 and 12 enjoyed the children's races, of shorter distance. Games, activities and lots of fun for the youngest members of the family.
Tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. the last race of the HOKA Val d'Aran by UTMB® will start, the EXP of 32 kilometres, with 2,100 metres of positive height gain, starting and finishing in Vielha.
In addition, the runners of the VDA, whose race was suspended on Friday night, will also be able to do the EXP, starting from Vielha at 9.30 am.
