UTMB® World Series and its pregnancy policy to support mothers and fathers runners

From the beginning of 2023, the UTMB® World Series has launched an initiative to support mothers and their partners by introducing a new pregnancy policy.

From the beginning of 2023, the UTMB® World Series has launched an initiative to support mothers and their partners by introducing a new pregnancy policy.

This policy is aimed at pregnant athletes and athletes whose partner is pregnant, as well as athletes in the process of adoption or surrogate motherhood, in countries where it is permitted, making it easier for new parents to return to the trail in a safe environment and within a sufficient period of time after the arrival of a child.

The features of this new policy are as follows:

  • Full reimbursement for pregnant women, and priority access within five years for races in the 50K, 100K and 100M categories, and within two years for races in the 20K category.
  • The possibility for couples, parents in the process of adoption, or involved in surrogacy, to choose between postponing their registration for two years or receiving a full refund.
  • For transgender and non-binary people there are numerous projects and initiatives in development.

For events with a draw such as UTMB® Mont-Blanc, Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB®, and Eiger Ultra Trail by UTMB®, the policy states that athletes will receive a full refund and priority registration which can be used within five years for 50K, 100K and 100M races, and within two years for 20K races.

In this way, the UTMB® World Series demonstrates its efforts to encourage the participation of women in mountain races, and its commitment to equal opportunities.
